Key rights of persons with disabilities: an introduction

This factsheet looks at some of the rights guaranteed by the United Nations (UN) human rights convention, namely the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

The CRPD states what governments must do to protect and promote the rights of persons with disabilities. It does not create any special rights, but tries to ensure that persons with disabilities can enjoy, like everyone else, all human rights. Some of the rights guaranteed by the Convention are described in the factsheet.
