Upon the request of the French Presidency, FRA presented an opinion on the Commission's proposal for a Council framework decision on the use of Passenger Name Record (PNR) data.

Upon the request of the French Presidency, FRA presented an opinion on the Commission's proposal for a Council framework decision on the use of Passenger Name Record (PNR) data for law enforcement purposes the opinion (PDF): [COM (2007) 654]. This opinion provides an overview of relevant fundamental rights issues focusing on the right to respect of private life, the right to data protection and the prohibition of discrimination. The opinion will feed into the discussions on the proposal taking place in the Council.
