The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) launched its policy brief Border Management and Human Rights.

At the launch event on 16 December, FRA focused on the implications on fundamental rights of the use of the large-scale information systems and their interoperability. FRA spoke of the potential fundamental rights risks, with respect to the protection of personal data, protection against non-discrimination, and right to an effective remedy and the need to properly implement safeguards.

FRA drew on its report Under watchful eyes – biometrics, EU IT-systems and fundamental rights.

FRA participated in several ODIHR expert consultation meetings, during the preparation of the policy brief.
