The annual meeting of the European Platform for Roma Inclusion takes place on 20 September.

It aims to stimulate cooperation and exchange of experiences among all relevant stakeholders for equality, inclusion and participation of Roma people in Europe.

This year’s meeting discusses challenges and barriers in view of the new EU strategic framework for Roma equality, inclusion and participation until 2030.

FRA’s Director in his opening speech will highlight two key elements to deliver on the new framework: data and monitoring. He reiterates FRA’s commitment in collecting such data. But he also emphasises the primary role of Member States to collect such data. This they should do in close partnership with Roma and Traveller communities.

The meeting focuses on how to tackle antigypsyism and how to mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on Roma communities. It will look at unequal access to education, residential and spatial segregation.
