    In March 2018, the Italian National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) and the National Anti-Discrimination Office (UNAR) signed an agreement to carry out comprehensive research project looking into discrimination against LGBT people as well as entrepreneurial diversity management policies in the area of employment. The project will strongly involve various LGBT stakeholders in the research design and planned respondent outreach activities and applies a multi-perspective and intersectional approach.

    In 2018, the UK Office for National Statistics (ONS) established a Census, Lifecourse and Disability team to address gaps in disability information. It links existing data sources and produces new pieces of work giving insight into disability statistics.

    The Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency (FADA) published a study in 2018 on the status of equality data in 20 large-scale, representative surveys in Germany. The aim was to produce a systematic overview of the questions, categories or variables relating to discrimination currently available in those surveys and to discuss ways to expand the collection of these data.

    In 2018, the UK Government Statistical Service and the Office for National Statistics initiated a project that aims to provide guidance across government to measure gender identity and increase the capacity to collect data and statistical literacy about gender identity.

    The Department of Justice and Equality of Ireland has developed a Data and Research Strategy 2018-2020 to facilitate better collaboration and information sharing with respect to equality data between the Department, its agencies and stakeholders, including the public.

    In 2015, the Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency of Germany (FADA) introduced two new questions into the innovation sample of the national Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP). It asked respondents whether they have experienced discrimination within the last two years and, if yes, the frequency of discrimination experienced in different areas of life.

    The Finnish Ministry of Justice has set up and is further developing a data hub on equality and discrimination. Recent research results, studies and statistics on discrimination in Finnish society are displayed on a website and structured according to grounds of discrimination/population group and areas of life covered.

    In 2013, the Norwegian Directorate for Children, Youth and Family Affairs started to develop a web-based data hub that systematises data on the living conditions and life situations of people with disabilities and makes them accessible to a wide audience. It was subsequently extended to also cover LGBTIQ people and work is currently ongoing to include data on ethnicity.

    The Austrian Ombud for Equal Treatment (OET) introduced a new database in 2016. All requests filed with the OET, including discrimination complaints, are systematically recorded there. The database is used for monitoring and reporting. It also helps the OET develop strategic action plans.

    The British Equality and Human Rights Commission has conducted a representative survey that measures discrimination experiences of groups with protected characteristics and explores attitudes of the general public towards discrimination and equality issues in Britain. The results of the survey were first published in a report on 11 October 2018.
